This video, Understanding Your Opt-ions, provides more information in regard to the new overdraft regulations.
New overdraft regulations require banks to have a customer's permission before allowing overdrafts to be paid on ATM or every day debit card transactions.
If your account has Worry Free Overdraft Privilege, you may choose to authorize Citizens to pay overdrafts on these transactions, up to $500.
If you are enrolled in Overdraft Protection or have a Private Line account with us, your overdrafts are covered by these products when you use a check. However, these services are not accessed during a merchant transaction with your debit card and your purchase may be declined if there are not enough funds in your primary checking account.
You will continue to have the benefit of Worry Free Overdraft Privilege and will only be charged a fee if you use the service and your account is overdrawn. If you make a debit card purchase or ATM transaction that could leave a negative balance in your account, we have your permission to pay that transaction and save you the embarrassment, inconvenience and retailer's bounced check charges. Your authorization does not guarantee that the bank will cover every transaction that may overdraw your account. However, we will continue to honor these transactions whenever possible.
If you choose not to "opt in", beginning August 15, 2010, we will no longer be able to honor purchases made with your ATM or debit card when your account is underfunded. If there are insufficient funds in the account, the transaction will be declined. You will need to use another form of payment such as cash, check or credit card to complete the transaction.
To authorize us to pay these transactions electronically via secure internet,
please OPT-IN here.
If you would prefer to mail in your authorization, you may complete this AUTHORIZATION FORM and return it to 606 S. Main St., Princeton, IL 61356
